It's not salon bleach, and it doesn't pretend to be
Salon bleach is a persulfate powder mixed with 20 to 40-volume developer (that's 6 to 12% peroxide). It strips pigment in 45 minutes and takes the protein with it. That's the damage everyone is scared of.
Suntouched works differently. It's a leave-in mist that uses 3% hydrogen peroxide, a quarter of the strength in a salon bowl and the same gentle oxidiser used in at-home toners, cushioned with hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, chamomile, pineapple extract and glycerin. No persulfates, no ammonia, no alcohol, no parabens. It lifts a little each time you use it, and you decide when to stop.
That's also why it doesn't work like bleach. Nobody goes from black to platinum in an afternoon. What you get is your own colour, two or three shades lighter, with the dimension a summer outside would have given you.

Spray the regrowth on clean, damp hair, comb through, then 30 minutes in the sun or 3 to 4 minutes with a blow-dryer on low. By tomorrow morning the line is gone. Because it only moves your natural colour a couple of shades, the blend into your existing highlights looks like it grew that way.

It works! I've been growing out dyed dark brown (almost black) hair & slowly returning to my natural dark blonde/light brown... the line between my roots & length had gotten pretty obvious as it was down to my ears - I had to help soften the contrast or I'd go crazy. I have dark brown hair, almost black. I am on my second bottle and it has lightened my hair enough to match my light brown eyes. I spray this on damp hair and then use my diffuser. My hair still feels soft and has a shine to it.

I never write reviews, but had such great results with this product that I thought it was worth sharing with others who are on the fence about purchasing. I had highlights that were turning a bit too yellow and went to my salon to have the color toned. Unfortunately, I was left with a color that was much darker than I anticipated and I felt like my balayage was gone. It says no bleach, but hydrogen peroxide is in the ingredients. What's the deal?
We'd rather explain than hide it. "Bleach" in hair means persulfate powder mixed with high-volume developer. Suntouched has no persulfates and no ammonia. It lightens with 3% hydrogen peroxide, the gentlest strength used in hair care, cushioned with hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, chamomile and glycerin. How many shades will I get?
Up to three, gradually. Blonde goes brighter and golden. Light brown goes dark blonde. Dark brown goes caramel. Black goes warm dark brown with dimension. Each use lifts a little more, so you can stop exactly where you like it.
Will it turn my hair orange?
Lightening any brown hair reveals warm tones underneath. That's chemistry, not a defect, and it's why the kit includes the toning mask (purple for blonde, blue for brunette). Use it and you get caramel and honey instead of brass.
I have colour-treated, balayage or henna hair. Can I use it?
Yes. It lightens your current shade. Do a strand test first, and wait four weeks between Suntouched and any chemical colour service.
Grey hair?
It brightens greys and lightens the pigmented hair around them, so everything blends lighter. It won't change the colour of a grey strand itself.
Wet or dry hair?
Clean, towel-damp is best. Rinse out conditioner first so the mist reaches the hair, and put any styling products on after.
Will it dry my hair out?
Any lightening is drying if you overdo it. Keep it to once between washes, use the toning mask, and it stays soft. Reviewers say it left their hair softer than other lighteners.
How long does a bottle last?
